The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food and the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in a televised session jointly at 9:05 a.m., this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chairs, John Harvard and Bill Graham, presiding.
Members of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food present: Hélène Alarie, Garry Breitkreuz, Rick Casson, Odina Desrochers, John Harvard, Howard Hilstrom, Gar Knutson, Larry McCormick, Bob Speller, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.
Members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade present: Jean Augustine, Bill Graham, Diane Marleau, Pat O'Brien and Bernard Patry.
Other Member present: Dennis Gruending.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch -- Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher; Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist; James Lee and John Wright, Researchers.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Council for International Cooperation: Esperanza Moreno, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer. From the Canadian Foodgrains Bank: Stuart Clark, Policy Manager. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committees convened a briefing session on World Food Day.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 11:00 a.m., the Committees adjourned to the call of the Chairs.
