Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Mahoney (Mississauga West), seconded by Ms. Brown (Oakville), Bill C-363, An Act to require the establishment of national training and certification standards for trades that receive apprenticeship training, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Presenting Petitions

Pursuant to Standing Order 36, a petition certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions was presented as follows:

-- by Mr. Szabo (Mississauga South), concerning police and firefighters' death benefits (No. 361-0487).

Questions on Order Paper

Mr. Adams (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) presented the answer to question Q-58 on the Order Paper.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. MacAulay (Minister of Labour), seconded by Ms. Fry (Secretary of State (Multiculturalism) (Status of Women)), -- That Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (Part I) and the Corporations and Labour Unions Returns Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

The debate continued.
