Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. Meredith (South Surrey -- White Rock -- Langley), seconded by Mr. Strahl (Fraser Valley), Bill C-305, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (selling wildlife), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Paradis (Brome -- Missisquoi), seconded by Mr. Cullen (Etobicoke North), Bill C-306, An Act to amend the Bank Act (bank charges), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, -- That, notwithstanding the provisions of Standing Order 81(16), in the combined periods ending March 26, 1998, and June 23, 1998, the total number of opposition motions that shall come to a vote shall not be more than seven.

and that Norman Doyle be added to, and André Harvey be deleted from, the list of Associate Members.

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should renew its commitment to British pensioners living in Canada and vigorously pursue an agreement with the government of the United Kingdom to provide them with uprated pensions, to achieve parity with other United Kingdom pensioners.
