Meeting No. 15

Thursday, May 13, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Tax Equity for Canadian Families with Dependent Children of the Standing Committee on Finance met at 1:25 p.m. this day, in Commons Rooms, Holiday Inn Select Halifax Centre, Halifax, the Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Serge Cardin, Nick Discepola, Michelle Dockrill, Paul Forseth and Paul Szabo.

Acting Member present: Scott Brison for John Herron.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Cusson, Analyst

Witnesses: From the Group of 12 for Social Justice: Claude Snow. As Individual: Jack Harris, Leader of Newfoundland New Democrats.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Finance, dated March 17, 1999, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on Tax Fairness for Canadian Families with Dependent Children.

Claude Snow from the Group of 12 for Social Justice made an opening statement and answered questions.

Jack Harris, Leader of the Newfoundland New Democrats, made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 2:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
