MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 3

Wednesday, May 26, 1999

The Sub-Committee on International Financial Reporting Guidelines and Standards for the Public Sector of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Lynn Myers, Elsie Wayne, John Williams.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Treasury Board of Canada - Secretariat: J. Colin Potts, Deputy Comptroller General, Comptrollership Branch; John Morgan, Director, Government Accounting Policy, Comptrollership Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee proceeded to consider the role of the government of Canada and the status of Canada's financial reporting vis-à-vis other countries.

J. Colin Potts made an opening statement and answered questions.

The Chair invited Members of the Kenyan National Assembly visiting Canada, to join the meeting and make statements.

At 5:00 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
