Meeting No. 16
Tuesday, February 10, 1998
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:36 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Elinor Caplan, Odina Desrochers, Mac Harb, Gurmant Grewal, René Laurin, Philip Mayfield, Lynn Myers, Andrew Telegdi and John Williams.
Acting Members present: Charles Hubbard for Sue Barnes, John Finlay for Ivan Grose, Gurbax Malhi for Steve Mahoney.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O’Neal and Jean Dupuis, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (3)(e), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of a Draft Report on Chapter 13 of the April and October 1997 Report of the Auditor General (Health Canada -- First Nations Health).
The Committee considered the Draft Report and proposed amendments thereto.
It was agreed, - That the Draft Report, as amended, be concurred in.
It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes to the Report as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.
It was ordered, - That the Report, as amended, be presented by the Chair of the Committee to the House of Commons.
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of a Draft Report respecting the Public Accounts of Canada 1997.
The Committee considered the Draft Report and proposed amendments thereto.
The Committee agreed to all of the paragraphs of the Draft Report except for paragraphs 12 and 19 which were allowed to stand.
At 4:56 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
