MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
Thursday, October 23, 1997
The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 9:06 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roger Gallaway, Dick Harris, David Iftody, Yvan Loubier, Gilles A. Perron, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman, Paul Szabo, Paddy Torsney and Tony Valeri.
Associate Member present: Steve Mahoney.
Other Member present: John McKay.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Richard Domingue and Marion Wrobel, Research Officers.
Witnesses: Round Table 1 -- From Loewen, Ondaaje, McCutcheon Ltd.: Maureen Farrow. From the Royal Bank of Canada: Craig Wright, Deputy Chief Economist. From the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce: Josh Mendelsohn, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist. From the Bank of Montreal: Rick Eggleton, Deputy Chief Economist. Round Table 2 -- From Insurance Bureau of Canada: George Anderson, President and Paul Kovacs, Chief Economist. From Sun Life Insurance Company of Canada: Don McIver, Chief Economist. From Business Council on National Issues: Thomas D’Aquino, President and CEO and, Sam T. Boutziowis, Senior Associate.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultation Study. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, October 15, 1997, Meeting No. 3).

At 10:42 o’clock a.m., the sitting was suspended.
