MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Monday, October 20, 1997
The Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:15 o’clock a.m. this day in the Mackenzie Room, The Queen Elizabeth, Montreal, the Vice-Chair, Paddy Torsney presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Roger Gallaway, Yvan Loubier, Gilles A. Perron, Gerry Ritz and Paddy Torsney.
Other Members present: Yvon Charbonneau and Rahim Jaffer.
Associate Member present: Scott Brison.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament: Richard Domingue, Research Officer.
Witnesses: Roundtable no. 1: From the Chamber of Commerce of Quebec: Robert Demers, "Associé, Taxes à la consommation", Samson Bélair Deloitte & Touche, Member of the Public Finance Committee; Martin Comeau, Economist. In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1 the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultation study. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Meeting No. 3, Wednesday, October 15, 1997).
At 9:09 o’clock a.m., the witnesses on Roundtable No. 1 made statements and answered questions.
At 10:40 o’clock a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 10:56 o’clock a.m., the sitting resumed.
The witnesses on Roundtable No. 2 made statements and answered questions.
At 11:56 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned until 1:00 p.m. this afternoon.
