MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1997
The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:38 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Charles Caccia, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Charles Caccia, Chuck Cadman, Aileen Carroll, Rick Casson, Yvon Charbonneau, Bill Gilmour, Joe Jordan, Gar Knutson, Karen Kraft Sloan, Rick Laliberté, David Pratt.
Acting Members present: Gérard Asselin for Bernard Bigras and Clifford Lincoln for Dan McTeague.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Bill Murray, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From Environment Canada: Gordon McBean, ADM, Atmospheric Environment Service. From the Bermuda Biological Station for Research: Roger Pocklington.
It was ordered,--That the Chair be authorised to purchase gifts on behalf of the Committee for visiting delegations to Canada meeting with the Committee or for foreign hosts when the Committee is travelling abroad.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its consideration of climate change issues in relation to Canadian preparations for the Conference of the Parties on the U.N. Convention on Climate Change (See Minutes of Proceedings, dated Thursday, October 23, 1997, Meeting no. 6).
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:58 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
