GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-25, An Act to amend the Canada Petroleum Resources Act, as reported by the Standing Committee on Natural Resources without amendment.

Mr. Irwin (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Mr. Goodale (Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food), moved, -- That the Bill be concurred in at report stage.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill was concurred in at report stage.

Pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(12), Mr. Irwin (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Mr. Goodale (Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a third time and do pass.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill was read a third time and passed.

Presenting Reports from Inter-parliamentary Delegations

By unanimous consent, Mr. Gauthier (Ottawa -- Vanier) presented the Report of the Canadian Branch of the Assemblée internationale des parlementaires de langue française (AIPLF) concerning its participation at the 20th Ordinary Session of the AIPLF held in Paris and Versailles, France, from July 10 to 13, 1994. -- Sessional Paper No. 8565-351-52C.

Questions on Order Paper

Pursuant to Standing Order 39(7), the following question was made an Order of the House for a Return:

      Q-67 -- Mr. Ménard (Hochelaga -- Maisonneuve) -- With regard to the Defence Industry Productivity Program (DIPP) administered by the Department of Industry, (a) which companies have been awarded financial assistance since January 1, 1994, (b) what type of financial assistance (grants, repayable loans with or without royalties, tax benefits) did these companies receive, (c) what was the amount of financial assistance that each company received, and (d) what criteria did the companies receiving assistance have to meet in connection with government requirements promoting defence conversion?

Mr. Milliken (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) presented the Return to this Order. -- Sessional Paper No. 8555-351-67.

PRIVATE MEMBERS' BUSINESS

At 1:30 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

Mr. Hanger (Calgary Northeast), seconded by Mr. Hill (Macleod), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should regulate the testing, under Sections 11(1) and (3) of the Immigration Act, of all applicants for immigration to Canada for H.I.V., and that a positive result of an H.I.V. screening be included, under the terms of Section 19(1) of the Immigration Act, as grounds for the inadmissibility to Canada of the applicant for landing. (Private Members' Business M-285)

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Order 93, the time provided for consideration of Private Members' Business expired and the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.
