Tabling of Documents

Pursuant to Standing Order 32(2), Mr. Milliken (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) laid upon the Table, -- Government responses, pursuant to Standing Order 36(8), to the following petitions:

Presenting Reports from Committees

Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Hanger (Calgary Northeast), seconded by Mr. Thompson (Wild Rose), Bill C-357, An Act respecting restriction on foreign aid, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Motions

By unanimous consent, the Order for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage of Bill C-292, An Act to commemorate the birthplace of Confederation, standing in the order of precedence on the Order Paper in the name of Mr. Proud (Hillsborough), was discharged and the Bill withdrawn.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Milliken (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons), seconded by Mr. Szabo (Mississauga South), moved, -- That the 101st Report of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, presented earlier today, be concurred in.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Presenting Petitions

Pursuant to Standing Order 36, petitions certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions were presented as follows:

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Axworthy (Minister of Human Resources Development), seconded by Mr. Gerrard (Secretary of State (Science, Research and Development)), -- That Bill C-96, An Act to establish the Department of Human Resources Development and to amend and repeal certain related Acts, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development.

The debate continued.

The question was put on the motion and, by unanimous consent, the recorded division was deferred until Tuesday, November 28, 1995, at the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders.

The Order was read for the third reading of Bill C-83, An Act to amend the Auditor General Act.

Ms. Marleau (Minister of Health) for Ms. Copps (Minister of the Environment), seconded by Mr. MacAulay (Secretary of State (Veterans)), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a third time and do pass.
