Mr. Simmons (Burin-St. George's), from the Standing Committee on Health, presented the 5th Report of the Committee (Bill C-7, An Act respecting the control of certain drugs, their precursors and other substances and to amend certain other Acts and repeal the Narcotic Control Act in consequence thereof. with amendments). -- Sessional Paper No. 8510-351-155.

A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Issue No. 31, which includes this Report) was tabled.

Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Breitkreuz (Yorkton-Melville), seconded by Mr. Ramsay (Crowfoot), Bill C-354, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (transmission of HIV), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Mr. Assadourian (Don Valley North), seconded by Mr. Pagtakhan (Winnipeg North), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should consider designating the second Sunday in September of each year as ``Grandparents Day'' in order to acknowledge their importance to the structure of the family in the nurturing, upbringing and education of children.
