Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of a potential Canada–Mercosur free trade agreement.

Robert Dietrich, Mark Nantais and Paul Lansbergen, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, made statements and answered questions.

At 9:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:50 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 110 and 111 and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, the Committee commenced consideration of the Order in Council appointment of Martine M. Irman to the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Export Development Canada, referred to the Committee on Friday, February 2, 2018.

Martine Irman made a statement and, with Benoit Daignault and David Bhamjee, answered questions.

At 10:26 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:29 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a review of the Comprehensive & Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership, to examine how the new agreement compares to the original Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement; and that this review begin before a bill implementing the agreement is referred to the Committee by the House, to ensure that a thorough review will allow for prompt approval or amendment of an eventual bill.

At 10:41 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
