The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in camera at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Tilson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Don Davies, Rick Dykstra, Sadia Groguhé, Roxanne James, Kevin Lamoureux, Chungsen Leung, Ted Opitz, Rathika Sitsabaiesan and David Tilson.

 

Acting Members present: Devinder Shory for John Weston, Nycole Turmel for Matthew Kellway and David Wilks for Costas Menegakis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Béchard, Analyst; Sandra Elgersma, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Federal Government of Germany: Christian Klos, Head of Unit Immigration Law, Ministry of the Interior; Corinna Richard, Deputy Head of Unit Immigration Law, Ministry of the Interior; Roland Brumberg, Counselor of Unit Immigration Law, Ministry of the Interior.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That Minister Kenney appear for one extra hour before the Committee on the Main Estimates 2012-13, on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m..

 

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:02 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, December 8, 2011, the Committee resumed its study "Standing on Guard for Thee: Ensuring that Canada's Immigration System is Secure".
 

Christian Klos, by videoconference from Berlin, Germany, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
