The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Gerald Keddy, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Annick Papillon, Jasbir Sandhu, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Pacific Exotic Food Inc.: Gian Dhesi, President. As an individual: Jas Ghuman.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) with India.
 

Gian Dhesi and Jas Ghuman made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:48 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commence a study of the benefits for Canada in joining the Pacific Alliance as a full member; that the clerk be instructed to invite the Ambassadors of Mexico, Peru, Chile and Columbia in Canada to appear before the Committee; that additional witnesses be invited at the discretion of the Chair; that the study consist of six meetings, beginning Monday, March 18th, 2013; and that the Committee report its findings to the house.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
