The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:11 a.m. this day, in Room 853, 131 Queen St., the Chair, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Rod Bruinooge, Dean Del Mastro, Ruby Dhalla, Royal Galipeau, Nina Grewal, Carole Lavallée, Roger Pomerleau, Pablo Rodriguez, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Scott Simms and Tim Uppal.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing; Marion Ménard.

 

Witnesses: Magazines Canada: Mark Jamison; Jim Everson, Public Affairs. Canadian Association of Research Libraries: Ernie Ingles, Vice-Provost and Chief Librarian, University of Alberta. Astral Media Inc.: André Bureau; Sophie Émond, Regulatory and Government Affairs. Corus Entertainment Inc.: Gary Maavara; Sylvie Courtemanche, Governement Relations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on the emerging and digital media: opportunities and challenges.
 

Ernie Ingles and Mark Jamison made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:06 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:10 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

André Bureau, Sophie Émond, Sylvie Courtemanche and Gary Maavara made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
