The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 11:36 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Lui Temelkovski, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Patrick Brown, Patricia Davidson, Steven John Fletcher, Christiane Gagnon, Susan Kadis, Luc Malo, Lui Temelkovski, Hon. Robert Thibault, David Tilson and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Dean Allison for Joy Smith.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst; Odette Madore, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst. House of Commons: Isabelle Dumas, Procedural Clerk.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and section 25.9 of the Federal-Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the progress in implementing the “10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care”.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report the supplementary opinions from the Liberal Party of Canada, and from Judy Wasylycia-Leis of the New Democratic Party, previously submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee in both official languages; and that the Committee also append to its report supplementary opinions from the Bloc Québécois, and from the Conservative Party of Canada, provided that each are no more than five pages in length and submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee in one official language no later than 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That the letter and attached document sent electronically to the Clerk of the Committee by Health Canada at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in response to the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, June 5, 2008, be appended to the Committee report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: Statutory Parliamentary Review of the 10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House on Friday, June 13, 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

At 12:19 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:23 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 12:24 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
