The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Rick Casson, Nick Discepola, Maria Minna, Shawn Murphy, Pierre Paquette, Judy Wasylycia-Leis and Bryon Wilfert.

Acting Members present: Christiane Gagnon for Pauline Picard.

Other Members present: Peter Adams and Svend Robinson.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal ; Blayne Haggart, Analyst ; Stephen Laurent, Analyst.

Witnesses: Federation of Canadian Municipalities: Yves Ducharme, President; James Knight, Chief Executive Officer. Ottawa Child Care Association: Diane O'Neill, Vice President. Ottawa Child Care Action Network: Shellie Bird, Member. Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists: Thor Bishopric, President; Rick Mercer; Sonja Smits. Grain Growers of Canada: Cam Dahl, Executive Director. Community Foundations of Canada: Monica Patten, President and Chief Executive Officer. Canadian Centre for Philanthropy: Peter Broder, Legal Counsel & Policy Analyst. Canadian Vintners Association: William C. Ross, President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 83(1), the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations.

Panel I: Yves Ducharme, Diane O'Neill, Shellie Bird, Thor Bishopric, Rick Mercer and Sonja Smits made a statement and, with James Knight, answered questions.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:53 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Panel II: Cam Dahl, Monica Patten, Peter Broder and William C. Ross made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
