Tuesday, April 1st, 2003
The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Acting Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Bernard Bigras, Joe Comartin, John Herron, Gary Lunn, Bob Mills, Julian Reed, Andy Savoy, Hélène Scherrer, Paul Szabo, Alan Tonks.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas and Tim Williams, Analysts.
Witnesses: From the Department of the Environment: Alan Nymark, Deputy Minister. From the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat: Jim Judd, Secretary of the Treasury Board and Comptroller General of Canada. From the Department of Natural Resources: George R. M. Anderson, Deputy Minister.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), federal government's approach to sustainable development.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
On motion of Bob Mills, it was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to purchase gifts in relation to the Committee's travel to England from March 24 to 27, 2003.
At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
