The Standing Committee on Health met at 12:11 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Bonnie Brown, Jeannot Castonguay, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Helen Scherrer, Judy Sgro, Yolande Thibeault, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
Associate Member present: Hedy Fry.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Sonya Norris and Monique Hébert, Research Officers.
Appearing: From the House of Commons: Anne McLellan, Minister of Health.
Witnesses: From the Department of Health: Ian C. The Order of Reference dated February 28, 2002, was read as follows:
ORDERED: - That the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003: Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 under HEALTH, laid upon the table on February 28, 2002, be referred to the Standing Committee on Health (Extract from the Journals of the House of Commons, February 28, 2002).
The Minister made a statement and, with the witnesses, answered questions.
Judy Wasylycia-Leis moved, - That the Committee invite the Minister to appear before it to continue their discussion of the Main Estimates (2002 - 2003) at a date no later than Thursday, May 30, 2002.
After debate the question was put on the motion and it was, by a show of hands, agreed to : YEAS: 8; NAYS: 0.
At 1:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
