Wednesday, September 26, 2001

The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:42 p.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: André Bachand, Ray Bonin, Bonnie Brown, Jeannot Castonguay, Yvon Charbonneau, Stan Dromisky, James Lunney, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Carolyn Parrish, MS Hélène Scherrer and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Members present: Ivan Grose for Judy Sgro, Ovid Jackson for Stephen Owen, Preston Manning for Diane Ablonczy and Pauline Picard for Diane Bourgeois.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: François Côté, Nancy Miller Chenier, Sonya Norris, research officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Health: Rhonda Ferderber, Director, Special Projects Division, Policy, Planning and Priorities Directorate, Health Policy and Communications Branch; Francine Manseau, Senior Policy Analyst, Health Policy and Communications Branch, Special Projects Division. From the Department of Justice: Glenn Rivard, Counsel, Legal Services.

The Committee resumed consideration of the draft legislation on Assisted Human Reproduction. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, May 3, 2001, Meeting No. 13).

The committee resumed debate on the motion of Stan Dromisky, -- That the vote on the motion be deferred until another date.

The Chair ruled that the motion was in order.
