The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, Claude Duplain, Mark Eyking, Marcel Gagnon, Howard Hilstrom, Charles Hubbard, Larry McCormick, Dick Proctor, Bob Speller, Paul Steckle, Rose-Marie Ur.
Other Member present: John Finley
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, and Jean-Denis Fréchette, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Ontario Soybean Growers: Liam McCreery, Chairman; Bill Allison, First Vice-Chair. From the Grain Growers of Canada: Brian Kriz, President; Kevin Muxlow, Executive Director. From the Ontario Corn Producers' Association: Dennis Jack, President; Terry Daynard, Policy Advisor.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), study of the future role of the Federal Government in Canada's Agricultural sector (grain and oilseed).
Liam McCreery, Bill Allison, Brian Kriz, Dennis Jack and Terry Daynard made opening statements and, with other witnesses, answered questions.
At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
