Wednesday, November 28, 2001

The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources met at 3:28 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Raymond Bonin, presiding.

Members the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Gérard Binet, Raymond Bonin, Reed Elley, John Finlay, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Richard Marceau, Pat Martin, Benoît Serré, Maurice Vellacott.

Acting Members present: Robert Bertrand for Jean-Guy Carignan;  John Richardson for Guy St-Julien;  Inky Mark for Gerald Keddy.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Mary Hurley, researchers.

Appearing: From the Department of Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources: The Honourable Robert Nault.

Witness: Gordon Shanks, Assistant Deputy Minister, Economic Development and Special Initiatives.

ORDERED, - That the Supplementary Estimates (A), for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2002: VOTES 1a, 5a, 15a, L20a, 35a, 40a, 45a and 50a under ABORIGINAL AFFAIRS, laid upon the table on November 1, 2001 be referred to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and natural Resources. The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

It was agreed, - That the Chair call the Votes.

Vote 50a carried.

It was agreed, – That the Chair report the Votes to the House without amendment.

At 5:07 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
