Thursday, December 9, 1999
The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:30 p.m. this day, at the Homesteader Country Inn, in Vegreville, Alberta, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Rick Borotsik, Garry Breitkreuz, John Harvard, Joe McGuire, Dick Proctor.
Other Member present: Leon Benoit.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch - Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher; Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.
Witnesses: As Individual: Victor Chrapko; Arden Ziegler; Roger Epp. From the Municipal District of Bonnyville:Gordon Graves, Agricultural Fieldman. As Individual: Henry Kowalchuk; Adam Campbell; Earle Rasmuson. From the Lakeland County: Gregory Ibach, Agricultural Fieldman. From the Canadian Dehydrators Association: Bryan Davidson, President; Garry Benoit, Executive Director. From the Alberta Grain Commission: Pat Durnin, Member; Brenda Brindle, Grain Industry Analyst.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the effectiveness of long-term safety nets and other national initiatives to provide the stability and environment necessary for stable growth in the agricultural industry.
Victor Chrapko, Roger Epp, Gordon Graves and Arden Ziegler made opening statements and answered questions.
Adam Campbell, Gregory Ibach, Henry Kowalchuk and Earle Rasmuson made opening statements and answered questions.
Bryan Davidson, Garry Benoit, Brenda Brindle, Pat Durnin made opening statements and answered questions.
