(Meeting No. 12)

WEDNEDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1997

The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:54 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Charles Caccia, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Charles Caccia, Aileen Carroll, Rick Casson, Yvon Charbonneau, John Herron, Joe Jordan, Karen Kraft Sloan, Rick Laliberté, David Pratt.

Acting Member present: Pierre de Savoye for Bernard Bigras.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament
: Bill Murray, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From Environment Canada: Robert Audet, Global Air Issues Branch, Environmental Protection Service. From Natural Resources Canada: Neil McIlveen, Director, Energy Forecasting Division; Nick Marty, Director, Demand Policy and Analysis Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its consideration of climate change issues in relation to Canadian preparations for the Conference of the Parties on the U.N. Convention on Climate Change (See Minutes of Proceedings, dated Thursday, October 23, 1997, Meeting no. 6).

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 4:16 o’clock p.m., David Pratt did take the Chair.

At 5:41 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
