The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

The Chair presented the Fourth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows:

Your subcommittee met on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, to consider the business of the committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That, with regard to its study on elder abuse, the committee reserve a 30 minute period at the end of its meeting of Thursday, May 13, 2021, to provide the analysts drafting instructions for a report, and that members be permitted to provide additional instructions to the analysts by email no later than May 25, 2021, and that if necessary, the committee consider these instructions at the meetings of Tuesday, May 25, or Thursday, May 27, 2021;

2. That, with regard to its study on elder abuse, the committee accept briefs until Tuesday, May 18, 2021; and

3. That the representatives of the parties sitting on the subcommittee each speak with their House leader to ask that the proposed legislative reviews to An Act for the Recognition of Victims Rights and the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act be subject to a special order of the House in the near future.

It was agreed, — That the Fourth Report from the subcommittee be concurred in.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, the committee commenced its study of elder abuse.

Kristen Underwood and Carole Morency made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 12:04 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:08 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Marie Beaulieu and Graham Webb made statements and answered questions.

At 1:07 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
