The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

At 11:02 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:02 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Chair presented the Tenth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure. The Report, as amended, was concurred in and read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, October 5, 2017, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That, in relation to the study of the economic security of women in Canada:
     a. a maximum of six (6) more meetings be devoted to hearing witnesses;
     b. the Committee hear two (2) witnesses per one (1) hour panel; and
     c. a proposed supplementary budget of $22,300 be adopted.

2. That, in relation to the OECD’s independent Gender Governance Review of Canada:
  1. the Committee host an informal meeting with the delegation from the OECD on Tuesday, October 17, 2017;
  2. simultaneous translation services be provided; and
  3. the Committee use the hospitality budget to provide lunch.

3. That, in relation to the Committee’s next study:
  1. the focus be on Indigenous women in the federal correctional system;
  2. a maximum of six (6) meetings be devoted to hearing witnesses, including representatives of federal departments and agencies;
  3. the Committee hear three (3) witnesses per one (1) hour panel;
  4. a maximum of thirty (30) witnesses (excluding federal departments and agencies) be allotted proportionally amongst the parties: seventeen (17) witnesses for the Liberal Party, nine (9) witnesses for the Conservative Party, and four (4) witnesses for the New Democratic Party; and
  5. members of the Committee submit to the Clerk their preliminary list of witnesses in order of priority no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017.

At 11:18 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
