The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Dona Cadman, Ron Cannan, Raymonde Folco, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Ben Lobb, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage and Maurice Vellacott.

 

Acting Members present: Luc Desnoyers for Josée Beaudin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Rona Ambrose, Minister of Labour; Hon. Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development.

 

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Janice Charette, Deputy Minister; Hélène Gosselin, Deputy Minister of Labour; Karen Kinsley, President, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation; Linda Lizotte-MacPherson, Senior Associate Deputy Minister, Chief Operating Officer for Service Canada.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2009-2010: Vote 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 under HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
 

The Ministers made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
