Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, the committee commenced its study of the emergency situation facing Canadians in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sonya Norris made a statement and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the committee proceed to sit in public.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

It was agreed, — That the deadline for supplementary witness lists in relation to the studies of the emergency situation facing Canadians in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and of Canada's health workforce be 5:00 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, February 17, 2022.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $7,325, for the study of emergency situation facing Canadians in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $4,275, for the study of Canada's health workforce, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the committee hold meetings and invite witnesses the week of February 28, 2022, as follows:

  1. Monday, February 28, 2022, in relation to the study of the emergency situation facing Canadians in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, inviting representatives from the Office of the Auditor General and the Public Health Agency of Canada to appear.
  2. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in relation to the study of Canada's health workforce, inviting witnesses submitted by the parties.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted earlier in the meeting, the deadline for witness lists in relation to the study of the emergency situation facing Canadians in light of the COVID-19 pandemic be 5:00 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

At 5:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
