Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h), the committee proceeded to a briefing with the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner.

Konrad von Finckenstein made a statement and, with Lyne Robinson-Dalpé, answered questions.

Motion

Matthew Green moved, — That, the committee send a letter to the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs and the Board of Internal Economy with the following recommendation:

That the Travel Points System used by Members of Parliament be amended to allow two special travel points to be used for international travel for parliamentary purposes, and that the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons be amended to explicitly ban sponsored travel.

Debate arose thereon.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

ORDERED, - That a letter be sent to the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs and to the Board of Internal Economy with the following recommendation:

That the travel points system used by members of Parliament be amended to allow two special travel points to be used for international travel for parliamentary purposes, and that the Conflict of Interest Code for members of the House of Commons be amended to explicitly ban sponsored travel.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 1:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
