The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That Pam Damoff be authorized to attend this in camera meeting.

At 11:43 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the Minister of Justice be invited to appear for two hours with regard to the study of the Main Estimates 2020-21.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the consideration of Bill C-5, An Act to amend the Judges Act and the Criminal Code: (a) the following organizations or individuals be invited to appear: the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, the Minister of Justice and department officials, the Hon. Rona Ambrose, the Canadian Judicial Council, the Office of the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime, the National Judicial Institute, the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund, the Native Women’s Association of Canada, the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity, the Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre, METRAC Action on Violence, the Criminal Lawyers’ Association, Carissima Mathen, the Association of Justice Counsel, the Avalon Sexual Assault Centre, the Disabled Women’s Network Canada, the Regroupement québécois des centres d’aide et de lutte contre les agressions à caractère sexuel, the Barreau du Québec, the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Superior Courts Judges Association; (b) three meetings be held, provided that three witnesses per hour be heard during the first meeting and that four witnesses per hour be heard during the other two meetings; (c) and, when a panel of four witnesses is heard, the time set aside for opening statements by each witness be five minutes.

At 12:46 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
