Pursuant to the order of reference of Monday, April 20, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ghislain Picard, Marjolaine Siouï and Tara Campbell made statements and answered questions.

At 2:58 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:03 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Richard Jock, Shannon McDonald and Charlene Belleau made statements and answered questions.

By unanimous consent, on motion of Mumilaaq Qaqqaq, it was agreed, — That, given the recent resignation of Cathy Bennett from the federal government’s COVID-19 Supply Council due to a conflict of interest since she is Chair of the Board of Dynamic Air Shelters, a company that currently has a contract with Indigenous Services Canada; the continued lack of transparency for predominantly Indigenous communities with respect to the delivery of supplies and resources from this federal government; the recent procurement of medical tents that were not requested by First Nations, including Mathias Colomb Cree Nation; and the presence of corporate lobbyists on the COVID19 Supply Council; the committee invite the Minister of Indigenous Services and the Minister of Public Service and Procurement to provide testimony about how the federal government will work to improve Indigenous communities’ COVID-19 response, and not corporate interest.

At 4:00 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
