Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 22, 2016, the Committee commenced its study of the Opioid Crisis in Canada.

Hilary Geller, Todd G. Shean, Caroline Xavier and Rita Notarandrea made statements and, with Supriya Sharma and Matthew Young, answered questions.

Sonia Sidhu gave notice of the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee call upon the Minister of Health to move as quickly as possible to conduct a review of the laws and regulations in place with regard to safe injection sites; and that this review have as an end goal to improve the health and safety of Canadians, using a strong, evidence-based approach.

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
