Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, the Committee commenced its study on Language training for Members of Parliament.

Pierre Parent made a statement and, with Nina Maimone, answered questions.

François Choquette gave notice of the following motion:

That the Committee invite the Interim Commissioner of Official Languages for an additional hour on Thursday, April 13, 2017, to present and explain the report on bilingualism in airports.

At 11:24 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:28 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:05 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Interim Commissioner of Official Languages for an additional hour on Thursday, April 13, 2017, to present and explain the report on bilingualism in airports.

It was agreed, — That the Committee study the bilingualism of Supreme Court of Canada judges and that, as part of this study, the Committee hear witnesses on Tuesday, May 2, and Thursday, May 4, 2017.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on February 22, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the Translation Bureau.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Follow-Up to the Study of the Translation Bureau Reverse the Trend: Strive for Excellence".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting and/or supplementary opinions be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. (EDT).

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

It was agreed, — That the Analyst and the Clerk, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the Committee's website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

At 12:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
