The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee thank the former clerk of the Committee, Georges Etoka for his service to the Committee.

It was agreed, — That the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, be invited in October at a date to be determined, relative to the Annual Report on Official Languages 2014-2015.

It was agreed, — That the Committee complete its study on the Roadmap and immigration in francophone minority communities by November 30, 2016.

At 9:51 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:02 a.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the Committee dedicate ten (10) meetings to hear from witnesses relative to its study on the Roadmap and immigration in francophone minority communities and four (4) meetings to the consideration of the draft report.

It was agreed, — That the first hour of the meeting on Thursday, September 22, 2016 be dedicated to hear from Officials from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration relative to its study on the Roadmap and immigration in francophone minority communities; and that the second hour be dedicated to a discussion on the issue of Air Canada.

It was agreed, — That the meeting of Tuesday, September 27, 2016 be dedicated to hear from Officials from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration for two (2) hours relative to its study on the Roadmap and immigration in francophone minority communities.

François Choquette gave notice of the following motion:

That the Committee invite the Governor in Council to publish the job posting for the position of Commissioner of Official Languages and select a candidate as soon as possible in order to provide for time to transfer files, knowledge and expertise between the new commissioner and the outgoing commissioner, Graham Fraser.

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
