The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $ 10,000, for the Statutory Review of the Copyright Act, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the Committee request General Motors Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer, Mary Barra, to appear before the Committee and explain General Motors’ future and continued commitment to the automotive and manufacturing industries in Canada.

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a study of the impact of Canada's regulatory structure on small business. The study should identify areas for legislative and regulatory modernization and improved international cooperation. The study should be undertaken with the goal of identifying areas for improved efficiency to reduce costs to regulated parties, support international alignment and trade, and create flexible pathways for innovative products and processes to come to market while protecting the health and safety of Canadians. The study should be for no more than three or four meetings.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, December 13, 2017, and section 92 of the Copyright Act, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.

At 9:57 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
