Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of diabetes strategies in Canada and abroad.

Deljit Bains, Richard Sztramko and Bruce Verchere, by teleconference from Albuquerque, New Mexico, made statements and, with Marilee Nowgesic, answered questions.

At 9:15 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:16 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 10:08 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:16 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.

It was agreed, – That, in relation to the study of diabetes strategies in Canada and abroad, two additional meetings be held to hear other witnesses, including patients living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 8, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of Federally Funded Health Research (M-132).

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analyst for a report.

It was agreed, — That the Committee request an extension of thirty (30) sitting days to consider Federally Funded Health Research (M-132), referred to the Committee on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, and that the Chair present this request to the House.

At 10:42 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
