The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Rachael Harder moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and given the government committed to resettling Yazidi survivors in Canada, the Committee study the potential actions the government can undertake to treat trauma for Yazidi women and girls who survived sexual enslavement; that this study examine the German program for Yazidi women and girls to determine best practices when dealing with their trauma; that this study be comprised of no less than two (2) meetings prior to the end of the 120 day deadline; and that the Committee report its findings to the House.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 2; NAYS: 7.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of violence against young women and girls in Canada.

Julie Neubauer, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, and Bonnie Brayton made statements and answered questions.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Chi Nguyen, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, and Walter Henry made statements and, with Alma Arguello, answered questions.

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
