Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 9, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of the Provision of assistance to Canadians in difficulty abroad (Consular Affairs).

Michael Ferguson made a statement and, with Carol McCalla, answered questions.

At 4:23 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the evidence and documentation received by the Subcommittee on International Human Rights during the First Session of the 42nd Parliament in relation to its studies on the human rights situation in Somalia, the human rights situation in South Sudan, and the human rights situation in the Democratic republic of Congo, be taken into consideration by the Committee during its study of the situations in Somalia, South Sudan and the democratic Republic of Congo.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 27,650.00, for the study of the situations in Somalia, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 35,650.00, for the study of Canada's sovereignty in the Arctic, be adopted.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.

At 4:48 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
