Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of Plastic Pollution.

Helen Ryan made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 4:47 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:50 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee schedule one meeting with witnesses to discuss disaster mitigation and insurance, in relation to severe flooding, wildfires, and other extreme weather events in Canada.

It was agreed, — That the Committee schedule one meeting with the Parliamentary Budget Officer to discuss the recent report “Fiscal and Distributional Analysis of the Federal Carbon Pricing System”.

It was agreed, — That the Committee schedule two meetings with (a) witnesses to discuss the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services’ recent report on the accelerating rate of species extinction and nature’s “dangerous decline” and (b) with lead scientists who contributed to Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Canada’s Changing Climate Report.

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
