Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, the Committee commenced its study of Report 2 - Controlling Exports at the Border, of the Fall 2015 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

Michael Ferguson made a statement and, with Nicholas Swales, answered questions.

At 9:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:50 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of Report 2 - Controlling Exports at the Border, of the Fall 2015 Report of the Auditor General of Canada, the Chair send a letter to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness asking him which action the Government will take following that report.

It was agreed, — That in relation to its Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), the proposed budget in the amount of $94,505 for the Committee’s travel to Windsor and Toronto, Ontario, Montreal and Quebec City, Quebec, in spring 2016, be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee.

It was agreed, — That in relation to its Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) Public Consultation, the proposed budget in the amount of $104,505 for the Committee’s travel to St.John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Moncton, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, in spring-fall 2016, be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee.

It was agreed, — That, henceforth, the Committee study on Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) be referred to as the “Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) Public Consultation” on the website, communications and Committee material, and that the Clerk update the website accordingly.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invites the witnesses previously scheduled for the meeting of March 24, 2016, to appear on May 3 or 5, 2016.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding any routine motion, during meetings of the Committee outside of Ottawa, the Chair shall not entertain any substantive motion.

At 10:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
