Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of a food policy for Canada.

Irena Knezevic, Sylvie Cloutier and Carla Ventin made statements and answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Sylvie Boucher moved, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food and the Minister of Finance to provide a briefing on the government's consultations titled "Tax Planning Using Private Corporations" and how this will impact family farms and the Canadian agriculture and agri-food economy.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: John Barlow, Sylvie Boucher, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Cathay Wagantall — 4;

NAYS: Larry Bagnell, Pierre Breton, Lloyd Longfield, Eva Nassif, Joe Peschisolido — 5.

It was agreed, — That the reserved portion for the consideration of Committee business be postponed to the end of the meeting on Thursday, October 5, 2017.

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee resumed consideration of its study of a food policy for Canada. Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

Cam Dahl, Pat Vanderkooy and Gordon Bacon made statements and answered questions.

At 5:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
