The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 306, The Valour Building, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Ed Komarnicki, David J. McGuinty, Larry Miller, Mike Sullivan, Jeff Watson, Wai Young and David Yurdiga.

 

Acting Members present: Jasbir Sandhu for Hoang Mai and Jinny Jogindera Sims for Isabelle Morin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: City of Burnaby: Derek Corrigan, Mayor. City of Surrey: Linda Hepner, Mayor; Vincent Lalonde, City Manager; Jaime Boan, Manager, Transportation; Paul Lee, Rapid Transit and Strategic Projects Manager. Clean Energy Canada: Dan Woynillowicz, Director, Policy and Partnerships.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 23, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of updating infrastructure in Canada: an examination of needs and investments.
 

Derek Corrigan, by videoconference from Burnaby, British Columbia, Linda Hepner, by videoconference from Surrey, British Columbia, and Dan Woynillowicz, by videoconference from Nelson, British Columbia, made statements and, with Vincent Lalonde, by videoconference from Surrey, British Columbia, answered questions.

 

At 5:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:03 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, May 14, 2015, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That, in relation to the study of updating infrastructure in Canada, three more meetings be dedicated to hearing witnesses.

2. That the Committee invite officials from the department of Transport to appear for a briefing session on the implementation of the recommendations in Chapter 7 of the 2013 Fall Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

3. That, in relation to the study of updating infrastructure in Canada, the Committee consider a draft report at the latest during the week of June 8 to 12, 2015.

 

At 5:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
