The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Peter Braid, Olivia Chow, Ed Komarnicki, Hoang Mai, David J. McGuinty, Larry Miller, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Ted Opitz for Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Zachary Alaoui, Analyst; Allison Padova, Analyst. House of Commons: Jean-François Pagé, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, a proposed project budget in the amount of up to $31,400, in relation to the study of the review of the Canadian transportation safety regime, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the review of the Canadian transportation safety regime, the Committee dedicate eight meetings on rail transportation, four meetings on marine transportation, four meetings on air transportation, two meetings on road transportation, and two meetings on international jurisdictions as outlined in the work plan.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the review of the Canadian transportation safety regime, the Clerk of the Committee prepare budgets for the travel of seven members accompanied by the necessary staff to the following destinations: Vancouver, British Columbia, Kitimat, British Columbia, Edmonton, Alberta, and Winnipeg, Manitoba, during the week of February 23, 2014; Williston, North Dakota, United States of America, and Houston, Texas, United States of America, during the week April 6, 2014; Sarnia, Ontario, Toronto, Ontario, Montreal, Quebec, and Saint John, New Brunswick, during the week of May 25, 2014; and that the Committee consider the travel budgets on Monday, December 9, 2013.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the review of the Canadian transportation safety regime, members of the Committee submit their lists of witnesses to the Clerk of the Committee by Friday, December 13, 2013.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
