The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Brad Butt, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Anne-Marie Day, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, Larry Maguire, Hon. Gordon O'Connor and Bernard Trottier.

 

Acting Members present: Dan Albas for Jim Hillyer, Patrick Brown for Mark Adler and Mathieu Ravignat for Pat Martin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: André Léonard, Analyst; Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Federation of Independent Business: Laura Jones, Executive Vice-President; Monique Moreau, Director, National Affairs. Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association: Shannon Coombs, President. Public Service Alliance of Canada: Chris Aylward, National Executive Vice-President; Howie West, Work Re-Organization Officer, National Programs Section. Department of the Environment: Mike Beale, Assistant Deputy Minister, Environmental Stewardship Branch. Department of Health: Kendal Weber, Director General, Policy, Planning And International Affairs Directorate, Health Products and Food Branch. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, November 17, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-21, An Act to control the administrative burden that regulations impose on businesses.
 

Laura Jones. Shannon Coombs and Chris Aylward made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Kendal Weber and Mike Beale made statements and, with Stewart Lindale, answered questions.

 

At 10:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
