The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Joe Daniel, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Cathy McLeod, Devinder Shory, Jinny Jogindera Sims and Jonathan Tremblay.

 

Acting Members present: Jean-François Larose for Sadia Groguhé and Jamie Nicholls for Alexandre Boulerice.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst; Isabelle Lafontaine-Émond, Research Assistant.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the subject matter of clauses 176 to 238 (Divisions 5 and 6 of Part 3) of Bill C-4, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 21, 2013 and other measures.
 

Hassan Yussuf, Katherine Lippel, Chris Aylward, Bob Kingston, John Farrell and John Beckett made statements and, with Jeff Bennie, answered questions.

 

At 4:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That, following its consideration of the subject matter of clauses 176 to 238 (Divisions 5 and 6 of Part 3, Canada Labour Code) of Bill C-4, the Committee send a letter to the Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance informing him that the Committee has no amendments to propose.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of opportunities for older persons in the workforce.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development, to appear before the Committee on Supplementary Estimates (B) 2013-2014 before Thursday, December 5, 2013.

 

At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
