The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Mike Allen, Hon. Scott Brison, Guy Caron, Nathan Cullen, Gerald Keddy, James Rajotte, Murray Rankin, Andrew Saxton and Dave Van Kesteren.

Acting Members present: Robert Chisholm for Guy Caron and Rosane Doré Lefebvre for Murray Rankin.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michaël Lambert-Racine, Analyst ; Mark Mahabir, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Hendrik Brakel, Senior Director, Economic, Financial and Tax Policy. Canadian Federation of Independent Business: Corinne Pohlmann, Senior Vice-President, National Affairs. Canadian Labour Congress: Angella MacEwen, Senior Economist, Social and Economic Policy. Green Budget Coalition: Andrew Van Iterson, Manager. Retail Council of Canada: David Wilkes, Senior Vice-President, Grocery Division and Government Relations. Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2014.

Hendrik Brakel, Corinne Pohlmann, Angella MacEwen, Andrew Van Iterson and David Wilkes made statements and answered questions.

At 4:19 p.m., Nathan Cullen took the Chair.

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:04 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 5:04 p.m., James Rajotte took the Chair.

Scott Clark, Fiona Cook, Tom Zizys, Norma Kozhaya and Victoria Lennox made statements and answered questions.

At 6:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
