The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Hélène LeBlanc, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joan Crockatt, Kirsty Duncan, Hélène LeBlanc, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Djaouida Sellah, Susan Truppe, Terence Young and Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Martha Butler, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Status of Women Canada: Linda Savoie, Senior Director General, Women's Program and Regional Operations Directorate; Sébastien Goupil, Director General, Policy and External Relations. Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development: John Gartke, Director, Trade Missions, Consultations and Outreach; Zoe Hawa, Trade Commissioner, Business Women in International Trade.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 31, 2014, the Committee commenced its study of economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women.
 

Linda Savoie and John Gartke made statements, and with Zoe Hawa and Sébastien Goupil, answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:38 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $30,500, for the study of economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That all parties submit their recommendations for inclusion in the draft report of the study of eating disorders amongst girls and women, to the Clerk by 4:00 p.m., on Monday, April 14, 2014.

 

At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
