The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 268, The Valour Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Paul Dewar, Peter Goldring, Hélène Laverdière, Romeo Saganash, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and Bernard Trottier.

 

Acting Members present: David Anderson for Hon. Laurie Hawn and Hon. Mauril Bélanger for Marc Garneau.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Joann Garbig, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; Brian Hermon, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Kiwanis International: John Button, President. Canadian Feed The Children: Debra Kerby, President and Chief Executive Officer; Sohel Khan, Senior Program Advisor, Food Security and Environmental Sustainability. Rotary International: Wilfrid Wilkinson, Past International President; Robert Scott, Chair Emeritus, International PolioPlus Committee. Rotary Foundation: Bryn Styles, Trustee.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the Protection of Children and Youth in Developing Countries.
 

John Button, Wilfrid Wilkinson and Debra Kerby made statements and, with Sohel Khan, Bryn Styles and Robert Scott, answered questions.

 

At 12:05 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.
 

At 12:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
