The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, Blake Richards, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Niki Ashton, John Barlow, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Rob Clarke, Earl Dreeshen, Jonathan Genest-Jourdain, Blake Richards, Kyle Seeback and Mark Strahl.

 

Acting Members present: Isabelle Morin for Carol Hughes and Jinny Jogindera Sims for Carol Hughes.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Norah Kielland, Analyst; James Gauthier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: First Nations Financial Management Board: Harold Calla, Executive Chair. First Nations Finance Authority: Ernie Daniels, President and Chief Executive Officer. First Nations Tax Commission: C.T. (Manny) Jules, Chief Commissioner.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 15, 2014, the Committee resumed its study on access to capital.
 

C.T. (Manny) Jules, Ernie Daniels and Harold Calla made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:50 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:55 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That for its study of Bill S-6, the Minister be invited to appear before the Committee for its meeting of Tuesday, March 24, 2015 and; that the meeting start at 8:30 a.m.

 

It was agreed, — That seven members of the Committee travel to Whitehorse, Yukon, for its meeting of Monday, March 30, 2015, on the study of Bill S-6.

 

It was agreed, — That the amended list of potential witnesses be adopted and, that the clerk be instructed to contact all potential witnesses so as to confirm their availability.

 

It was agreed, — That for its study of Bill S-6, the witnesses identified as coming from Nunavut be invited to testify at the meeting of Thursday, March 26, 2015.

 

At 10:31 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
